Ageing Gracefully

Most people aim to age gracefully and try to stay as young as possible for as long as possible.

Healthy ageing includes much more than how we look on a surface level. It includes our internal health, mental wellness, preventing frailty and ensuring we can maintain independence into our old age.

The WHO refers to healthy ageing as: ‘The process of developing and maintaining the functional ability that enables wellbeing in older age.’

Naturally, as we age we lose muscle mass, roughly, 1% per year from our 3rd decade. However, we can slow this loss down and even reverse it, with exercise and a balanced nutrition plan.

The ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) have a list of important components that require attention to maintain healthy living as we age.
